A break from our regular programming to say:

Go, Canucks, go! For only the third time in my life, and the first since 1994, the Vancouver Canucks are going to the Stanley Cup finals, having just defeated the San Jose Sharks 3-2 in double overtime of game 5. I’m delighted!

(Background: I was a devout hockey fan for most of my life, but stopped watching games over ten years ago. Last week, I hopped on the bandwagon, and I’ve now watched two games in a row. I’ll try to watch all the games of the last series. That said, even as an ex-hockey fan, there’ll always be a special place in my heart for the 1994 team led by Trevor Linden that had the Cup bought away from them by the New York Rangers in a one-goal game 7 in which the Canucks had two goals disallowed. Meanwhile, I wish the current Canucks the very best in their battle for the Stanley Cup when they enter the last series of the season.)
